Absher Construction Co. has completed construction of the all-new Great Wolf Lodge, a family-destination resort property, in Grand Mound.
The fast-track project was built concurrently with design and included the 393-suite main lodge; the 68,000-square-foot indoor waterpark; MagiQuest, a live-action fantasy-adventure game; a 30,000-square-foot multiroom business/conference center with full catering facilities; an Aveda Family Spa; teens' and children's arcades and activity areas; two themed restaurants and a number of other dining and retail locations; an outdoor miniature golf course; a Starbucks coffee shop; fitness center; and resort gift shop.
Absher teamed with Saxas Construction, owned by the Chehalis Tribe, to provide a complete range of preconstruction and construction services to the project. They completed the project on time and on budget, with the official grand opening held on April 24, 2008.
The lodge exterior includes exposed wood/timber finishes, natural and synthetic stone, glass curtain walls, and more. Guestrooms include 11 different family-suite configurations. The interior was built to high-end finish levels, including broadloom carpets, ceramic tile and stonework, hand-peeled logs, clear-finished wood, and exposed timbers.
The conference center includes similar finishes, as well as state-of-the-art computer-network infrastructure and audio/visual systems. The waterpark structure was constructed of concrete slabs and custom-formed concrete, metal-stud systems and exposed steel beams.
