After months of Alpha testing, MADCAD has launched its Beta eLibrary v3.0, a resource providing online access to building codes and standards. The Beta eLibrary, an advanced platform for code research, offers a unique search technology in a newly designed interface, incorporating feedback from current customers, such as top design firms HOK, HDR and KPF.
“The amount of information in the construction industry - codes, standards, local amendments and product specifications - is enormous and growing everyday. It is overwhelming for architects and engineers to attempt to find relevant information within this massive data while staying up-to-date with the evolving knowledge base,” said Pelin Atasoy, CEO of MADCAD. “After fifteen years of development on a system to organize this information for ease and efficiency of use, I think we have finally reached that point. Now, users can easily locate the information that they need to stay code compliant. At the end, this will all result in safer buildings for everyone.”
This new technology brings together more than 7,000 code books and standards from ASHRAE, ASTM, ICC and NFPA, allowing users to simultaneously search among selected books. Search results are displayed within a uniquely interactive interface in which users can dynamically change search criteria, bringing substantial efficiency to code research.
Other new features include:
- Local code information including adopted model codes and state amendments
- Hyperlinked cross-references within books for fast navigation
- The ability to create custom groups of books for quick access
- Building product manufacturers classified under CSI’s MasterFormat
