Building Design+Construction wins a 2024 Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial excellence
The 76-page 2023 Multifamily Annual Report won the Neal Award for Best Subject-Related Package.

The editors of Building Design+Construction and Multifamily Pro+ were honored last week with a 2024 Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial excellence for their work on the “2023 Multifamily Annual Report.” The 76-page special report, published last October, won the Neal Award for Best Subject-Related Package. 

With this award, BD+C’s editorial team now has a total of 33 Neal Awards in its collection of honors.

The 70th annual Neal Awards competition is sponsored and hosted by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). Widely regarded as the highest honor in business journalism, the award recognizes journalistic enterprise, service to the industry, and editorial craftsmanship.

Architecture billings index takes turn for the worse

After showing signs of stabilization over the last three months, the Architecture Billings Index (ABI) plunged nearly five points in June. As a leading economic indicator of construction activity, the ABI reflects the approximate nine to twelve month lag time between architecture billings and construction spending. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) reported the June ABI rating was 37.7, far lower than the 42.9 the previous month.
