Demand for flexible workspace including coworking options has never been higher, according to a survey from Yardi Kube, a space management software provider that is part of Yardi Systems.
Coworking spaces are now considered a viable option by 39% of the 1,200 office tenants surveyed. The top two reasons for interest in coworking space are cost savings and flexibility to increase and decrease the office footprint as needed.
About two-thirds of commercial real estate professionals surveyed plan to embrace some version of hybrid work. That doesn’t translate into a sharp decrease in office space demand, though.
The vast majority (91%) of respondents said they were confident that their footprint will either stay the same or increase in the near future. Only 9% said they plan on reducing their footprint.
