Miami Valley Career Technology Center wanted a new look for its facility that matched its role as a world class provider of innovative, high tech career education. Located in Clayton, OH, the Center serves 27 area high schools and offers more than 50 career technical programs.
Approximately 8,500 sf of .063 aluminum Dri-Design panels finished in Arabian Blue were used to create a dramatic new look.
The patented Dri-Design Wall Panel System is an affordable dry joint, pressure-equalized rainscreen system.
Design for the renovation project was provided by App Architecture, Englewood, OH. “Not only was the existing building rather nondescript,” said Tim Bement, project architect, “but it had two identical storefront entrances that were obscured and confusing to first-time visitors.”
According to Bement, the design goal was to create a dominant focal point that would be clearly recognizable as the main entry to the entire campus facility. “We wanted to establish a first impression of the organization as progressive and professional,” Bement said. “The serpentine Dri-Design blue panel wall really provides the dramatic look everyone wanted. And from a practical standpoint, the panels are durable and virtually maintenance-free.”
The Dri-Design panels were also used to replace an aging molded fiberglass fascia soffit that extended the length of the building.
Installation of the panels was sub-contracted through Spohn Associates, Indianapolis.
Dri-Design panels can be made from a variety of materials including painted aluminum, zinc, copper and stainless steel and are 100% recyclable. Panels are available in any Kynar color in both standard and custom sizes.
