GBBN architects promotes four to Senior Associate rank - Jim Harrell, Ron Kull, Mark Lee, and David Proffitt

Cincinnati - GBBN architects has elevated four of its professional staff to Senior Associate. They are:

Ronald Kull, FAIA, is a Senior Project Consultant for GBBN, currently working as the liaison for Cincinnati Public Schools. The former University Architect at the University of Cincinnati, Kull assists with master and strategic planning as it relates to campus building projects. His experience with planning the transformation of physical environments as a client (UC and the City of Cincinnati) is an added benefit to the GBBN team. Ron is very interested in new trend known as Edge Development -- involving university facilities, senior living, mixed used and community development. Named a Fellow in 2007, Ron is a member of SCUP (Society of College and University Planners), AUA (Association of University Architects), and the Urban Land Institute.

Mark K. Lee, AIA, LEED AP, is GBBN’s Manager of Construction Administration. He joined the firm as a Project Architect in 2005, and was recently involved on the NKU Bank of Kentucky Center project. Mark earned his Bachelors of Architecture from Temple University, and his Masters of Architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. A native of Ridgewood (NJ), Mark enjoys windsurfing on Cape Hatteras. He is married to Patricia Kucker, and they are the proud parents of Truman and Emma. The Lee’s reside in Anderson Township.

James W. Harrell, FAIA, FACHA, joined GBBN in 2005 as its Director of Healthcare Planning and Design, bringing with him over 40 years of experience in the healthcare design field. He is a founder of the American College of Healthcare Architects, and provides expertise in critical care unit and women's health center design. In addition, Jim is known nationally and beyond for his writing standards for design in the healthcare industry.

David Proffitt, AIA, a native and lifelong resident of Louisville and graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Architecture, joined GBBN in 2005, and oversees the day-to-day operations of GBBN's new Louisville office. David is active in his professional organization having just finished a two and a half year service as the National Secretary of the American Institute of Architects, and has served as a regional director and National Board Member of AIA representing the AIA Ohio Valley Region, comprised of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. David has served as a member of a variety of Board activities, including the Case Studies work group, Codes and Standards and ADAAG Review, The International and Membership committees. He has served in various offices of his state and local components as well. In 2008 David received AIA Kentucky's highest individual award "The C. Julian Oberwarth" award. Prior to that David received the "Distinguished Service" award from AIA Ky.

Projects David has been involved with while at GBBN are the YUM! Center at the University of Louisville, the men's basketball practice and women's volleyball practice facility. He also led the original design for the women's lacrosse field stadium. He has been involved with various medical office facilities in and out of Ky. and is involved with development of a new mixed use - development facility and parking garage in Bowling Green Kentucky. He and his wife Dana reside in Louisville and are the parents of Allyn (20) and Bradley (14).
