San Diego, CA– McMillin Commercial and CB Richard Ellis announced that the walls have been tilted on the Liberty Station Office District's final addition, Building 902. The 104,397-square-foot Class A office building is 77 percent pre-leased with defense contractor BAE Systems leasing 80,000 square feet for 10 years. Completion is scheduled for summer 2009.
The three-story building is being constructed to meet LEED Silver certification requirements and is scheduled for completion in summer 2009. Designed by KMA Architecture & Engineering, Building 902 LEED design features include water-efficient fixtures to reduce water usage by 30 percent, fossil filter inserts for stormwater quality control, roof slope and finishes to reduce heat island effect, locally sourced materials to reduce environmental effects of processing and transportation, plus 10 percent of all construction materials will be from recycled sources.
Building 902 also incorporates a construction waste management program to divert 50 percent of construction waste from landfill disposal.
Developed on the former Naval Training Center site in Point Loma, the Liberty Station master plan includes 350,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurants in four retail districts: Harbor Square, The Landing, Marketplace, and Sellers Plaza. The project also includes a 28-acre arts and cultural district, 125 acres of parks and open space, 349 single family homes, a 22-acre educational campus anchored by High Tech High, two hotels, and a proposed Nickelodeon Resort by Marriot.
