One Angel Square in Manchester, England, is the highest scoring outstanding building for the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) in the U.K. The new 500,000 sf home for the UK’s largest mutual retailer, The Co-Operative Group, was built to achieve a 50% reduction in energy consumption, an 80% reduction in carbon emissions, and a 30% savings in operational costs.

Sustainable features include exposed concrete that will act like a thermal sponge, and systems for rainwater harvesting, recycling, and heat recovery. BREEAM is one of the world’s leading environmental assessment systems for buildings with more than a million registered assessments over the past 22 years.
