The Borgata, which is scheduled to open in 2003, will be Atlantic City's first new casino hotel in 13 years. Principal architect is Las Vegas-based Marnell Corrao Associates. The construction manager is a joint venture of Biloxi, Miss.-based W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Co. and Tishman Construction Corp. of New Jersey. Plans for the 40-story development include 2,010 guest rooms, 120,000 square feet of gaming space and other entertainment venues on 30 acres.

New York City-based Gwathmey Siegel & Associates is architect for the 80,000-sq.-ft. Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass. Peabody Construction Co. of Braintree, Mass., is general contractor for the $103 million facility, which will include retail space and a 200-seat theater. The building will feature three levels of exhibits that extend around an atrium that resembles a large basketball.

Los Angeles-based architect The Jerde Partnership is design architect for The Palms Casino Hotel in Las Vegas. Framingham, Mass.-based Perini Building Co. was awarded a $132 million contract to build the facility, which will include a 40-story hotel tower, 14 movie theaters and a 1,200-seat entertainment venue. The hotel is scheduled for completion at the end of 2001.

Lowenberg + Associates of Chicago is architect for a 52-story apartment tower in downtown Chicago's Illinois Center development. Chicago-based James McHugh Construction Co. is general contractor for the $103 million building. Arlington, Va.-based Charles E. Smith Residential Realty Inc. is the developer. Charles E. Smith was also the developer on another Chicago site, McClurg Court.
