The Atlanta office of Princeton, N.J.-based A/E CUH2A, Inc. is architect for the Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. St. Louis-based McCarthy is the general contractor. The laboratory will provide 320,000 square feet of space for multiple research activities. The six-story Phase I, to be completed in November, will contain 40,000 square feet of dry laboratory space. The 10-story Phase II, scheduled for completion in the spring of 2004, will provide an additional 280,000 square feet. of laboratory and support space.

New Haven, Conn.-based Cesar Pelli & Associates is the design architect and Irvine-based McLarand Vasquez Emsiek & Partners is the executive architect for a 38,000-sq.-ft. addition to South Coast Repertory Theater in Irvine, Calif. Snyder Langston of Irvine is the general contractor for the expansion, which includes a 336-seat theater. Completion is scheduled for October.
A collaboration of Princeton, N.J.-based Michael Graves & Associates and Brentwood, Tenn.-based Thomas, Miller & Partners is architect for a 180-bed replacement hospital at Tallahassee (Fla.) Community Hospital. Nashville-based Centex Rogers Inc. is the general contractor for the $54 million facility, which is scheduled for completion in October 2003.
Portland, Me.-based SMRT Architecture Engineering Planning is architect for the $28 million, 350-bed Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, Vt. Portland–based Granger Northern is the design/builder. The 170,000-sq.-ft. project, which will include three housing buildings with precast modular cell units, is scheduled for completion in August 2003.
Altoona, Pa.-based Hayes Large Architects is architect for a $43 million, 302,000-sq.-ft. high school for the Oxford (Pa.) Area School District. Reynolds Construction Management of Harrisburg is the construction manager. The school is to be completed in March 2004. BDC
