The Atlanta Marriott Marquis, a landmark hotel, is undergoing a $138 million renovation. Local architect Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback and Associates and TVS Interiors recently completed Phase I of the project, which emphasized rejuvenating the hotel's massive atrium with a fresh look and the addition of four new food and beverage venues. A 50-foot-high back-lit fin structure (pictured) highlights the newly constructed Pulse lobby bar. The fin structure is clad in resin panels that are backlit with LED lights that change color throughout the day to reflect the mood and “pulse” of the property. Hotel patrons can also gather at the High Velocity sports bar or dine in Sear, a high-end steak and seafood restaurant. The project also included renovations to the hotel's pool deck, ballroom, meeting rooms, and arrival area.
