Senate bill would reform EPA’s lead renovation, repair, and painting rules

By BD+C Staff | March 19, 2013

A bill to reform the EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (LRRP) was recently introduced in the U.S. Senate. The bill would restore the ‘opt-out provision’ that would allow homeowners without small children or pregnant women to decide whether to require LRRP; prohibits EPA from expanding the LRRP to commercial and public buildings until EPA conducts a study demonstrating the need for such an action; provides for an exemption for renovations after a natural disaster; and eliminates the requirement that recertification training be ‘hands on.’
