Skanska Completes HS in the Valley

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Skanska USA Building Inc, a leading international commercial construction management company, has completed a $58-million construction project of the new Palmview High School in Mission, TX. The new school opened to students on Jan. 19 and was built to accommodate the tremendous population growth in the La Joya School District.

The La Joya High School is the first four-year secondary education facility built in the district since 1987. The 340,000-square-foot high school is comprised of four buildings that were completed as part of the 2004 Bond Program.

"Skanska's dedicated team of employees and local contractors are proud to deliver this facility to the school district five months early," said Marty Massey, vice president of operations, Skanska. "We enjoyed partnering with La Joya Independent School District and look forward to other projects in the area."

Due to the Science Laboratory Grant Progam the District recently received, Skanska will continue working on the project until June 2009 to complete the construction of a 30,000-square-foot science classroom addition as well as athletic field improvements on site.
