William A. Berry & and Son Inc., joined with officials of Lesley University to top off construction of two new residence halls at the Cambridge, Mass., institution. Completing the frame is a major milestone in construction of the new buildings, which will be completed in August.
The project is Lesley’s first ground-up construction since 1972 and is the result of a unique planning process through which community members and the university, along with the architectural firm, designed the project to meet both university and community goals. Located on the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Wendell Street, the buildings will include new retail space as well as expanded student living areas. One building is a five-story residence hall with retail space on the front of the first floor. The second building is a three-story wood frame residence hall designed to complement the residential character of Wendell Street. Together, the two buildings will house 98 residential students. A September ribbon cutting is planned.
