A new 2,225,000-sf Amazon fulfillment center near Grand Rapids, Mich., will be built on an expedited construction schedule set to start in September and complete 22 weeks later in February.

Ben Hur Construction and Ideal Contracting have partnered to build the $150 million facility. The warehouse will contain 8,100 tons of structural steel and 2,900 tons of joists. Ideal Contracting will be self-performing structural steel and miscellaneous work on the project with Iron Workers Local 25 in Detroit. Approximately 70 ironworkers will be on the project at any given time.

The Grand Rapids project will be Amazon's fourth warehouse in Michigan and first in the western part of the state.
