Alan Schlossberg, AIA, LEED AP, has joined DesignGroup as a principal of the firm and regional practice leader.
He will work in the firm’s Pittsburgh office and is tasked with expanding the education, civic, workplace, and culture markets across the firm’s Columbus, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pa., operations.
THREE DECADES OF HIGHER EDUCATION WORK
Schlossberg brings three decades of experience contributing to a wide variety of planning, new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse assignments for colleges and universities.
“Alan is an expert in design for higher education, student life, and campus auxiliary services,” said DesignGroup President Jennifer Horvath. “He brings a deep understanding of how facilities can meet market expectations and how the performance of these facilities enhances an institution’s mission and bottom line.”
Schlossberg has worked on more than 60 completed projects and studies across the country, at such institutions as the University of Pittsburgh, Bowling Green State University, the University of North Carolina, Rutgers University, Carnegie Mellon University, Penn State University, and the University of Arkansas.
EIGHT YEARS’ SERVICE WITH AIA PITTSBURGH
Schlossberg has served eight years as a board member and past president of AIA Pittsburgh.
He was most recently with Perkins Eastman, where he served as principal and student life practice leader. Prior to that he was with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in New York.
