Architect Adrian Smith, the Co-Founder of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture (AS+GG), was named as this year’s recipient of the Legacies and Leaders Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Architecture.
The award honors UIC alumni for their positive impact on the school. Smith was born in Chicago and he received a degree from the school in 1969. He created the Adrian D. Smith Scholarship Award in 1987, an annual prize given to one four-year UIC School of Architecture student.
Among Smith’s most notable designs are Dubai’s Burj Khalif and Saudi Arabia’s Kingdom Tower, which are the world’s tallest structures. Smith has won more than 140 design awards in his career.
Smith will receive the Legacies and Leaders Award on April 7.
