The American Institute of Architects has released the most recent results of its 2030 Commitment Program, a voluntary initiative for AIA member firms to reach AIA’s goal of carbon-neutral buildings by 2030. Key findings from the new report, “Measuring Industry Progress Towards 2030”:
• 104 firms submitted reports––an 86% increase over the number of reports in 2010
• 656 million gsf represented in this data—a 70% increase from 2010
• 57% of total gsf used energy modeling to predict operational energy consumption
• 45% of total gsf for which actual energy use will be collected––a 9% increase from 2010
• 34.6% average Predicted Energy Use Intensity reduction reported by firms
• 21% average firm reduction in Lighting Power Density for interior projects
• 12.8% of total gsf meeting the current 60% carbon reduction target
