Following a series of devastating tornadoes that ripped through Alabama on April 27th, the state is preparing to implement the first statewide building code for residential structures. Although hailed as a major first step for a state that lags most other states in establishing a minimum standard, the new building code might not apply to dozens of counties and towns that currently have no code.
