Announced in a revised site plan approved by the City of Austin on April 29, Apple is adding a 75,500-sf, six-story hotel to its billion-dollar corporate campus that is currently under construction in Northwest Austin. The project comes as a bit of a surprise as the plans for the hotel were not included in the original site plans filed in December 2018, according to Culturemap Austin

The entire Austin campus is slated for completion in 2022 and with an initial employee count of 5,000. Over time, the campus will house 15,000 employees. While nothing has been announced yet regarding the specifics of the 192-room hotel (including the brand),  the facility will most likely be used for visiting employees, customers, and the like, as the 13-acre campus will surely draw many visitors.

The hotel will give Apple more control over all aspects of where visitors to the Austin campus will stay, including amenities and cleanliness (an important factor in a post covid-19 world).
