Architectural Design Collaborative (ADC), is delighted to have been selected as one of the architectural resource firms for the 2015 NAIOP Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge. ADC provides retail, multi-family, mixed-use, and industrial/office design services from its offices in Denver, Colorado and Costa Mesa, California.
The Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge (RMREC) is an event held annually intended to be a realistic development situation as learning exercise for students from the University of Denver and the University of Colorado graduate real estate programs. In providing their analysis and recommendations to a panel of real estate professionals, the teams will have the opportunity to interact with local businesses and the community while providing valuable assistance to the Project Sponsor of the selected Challenge site.
This will be the 13th year the Challenge has placed 50 of the state's best real estate graduates in competition to see which team can come up with the winning recommendations for a selected development site. This years' site is owned by the Westfield Company and is located in the RiNo or River North District at Brighton Blvd and 40th St. The Westfield Company has completed many developments of this type and has the track record to bring a project of this complexity to success. The Brighton Corridor also has the attention of the City of Denver as one of the major entrances to the City and investment is being made to improve infrastructure from I-70 to Broadway. The site is also near the new light rail station at 38th St. and Blake St.
At 14 acres, the industrial redevelopment site has the size to contain a number of different uses. The quickly changing area already has new trendy office space and growing residential to go along with the existing artist community and industrial uses. The National Western Stock Show to the north is also planned for redevelopment, and I-70 is planned to be re-routed for better neighborhood connectivity. The Challenge participants will try to take all of this into account in proposing a solution.
"We're very excited to be able to participate in this years' Challenge," said Michael Ohara, AIA, Principal of ADC Denver. "The potential for the variety of uses ranging from artist's studios and local small businesses, to housing, retail, and possibly industrial, fits well with our expertise. We're looking forward to helping our CU Team navigate the complexity of the different uses. Our experience designing retail and multi-family developments across the country should be a benefit."
