Located on banks of the Detroit River, 8330 On the River is a 280-unit apartment complex for the elderly and adults with disabilities. It was experiencing water infiltration from storms due to cracks that had developed in the facade of the building. Although the complex was constructed in the 1970s and isn’t especially old, this maintenance issue was wreaking havoc, and a long-term solution was needed.
Architectural metal panels have traditionally been used primarily in new building projects. Increasingly, they are now being utilized as a solution in renovation projects, recreating building exteriors.
CENTRIA insulated wall panels with Sherwin-Williams Coil Coatings (formerly Valspar) were installed on the exterior of 8330 On the River, significantly boosting its durability, energy efficiency, and appeal. Three Fluropon coatings were applied: Surrey Beige, Colonial Red, and Lee Ivory. In addition to creating an attractive appearance, these 70% PVDF coatings boost weather resistance and moisture protection for many years.
The renovation project was a resounding success, and 8330 On the River has an attractive new facade. Residents appreciate both the appearance and functionality of the renovations.
