Got a big idea or a major project you want to share with other AEC professionals? BUILDINGchicago, the new AEC industry conference and expo (September 10-12, 2013, in Chicago), is just the right venue for you.
We're accepting proposals through February 15, 2013 (deadline has been extended). Click here to get to the Presentation Submission Form.
A few tips on how to get your proposal accepted:
1. Make it eligible for approval by AIA/CES Discovery or the Green Building Certification Institute. That means it must be high in value, noncommercial, and authoritative.
2. Make it multidisciplinary. Proposals that have more than one discipline represented - architect, engineer, contractor, building owner, even a building occupant or end-user - will receive more favorable consideration. This is not an absolute requirement, but it will get you "points" with the screening judges.
3. Make it valuable to other AEC professionals. Create a program that will help other professionals in their work - one that would allow each member of the audience to take away a few good ideas that they could put to use in their work the next day.
4. Make it bright and lively. A good presentation will capture the audience's attention and add to the value of the program. Don't go overboard, but use the techniques that are available through today's technology to make your presentation memorable.
By the way, the annual Greening the Heartland conference - the program of the 12-state USGBC programs in the Midwest - will be co-located with BUILDINGchicago. That program will run September 9-10, 2013.
