Finnish structural BIM software company, Tekla, Inc., has announced that Trimble Navigation, a construction software and hardware manufacturer based in Sunnyvale, Calif., has made an offer of purchase for roughly $485 million ($6 a share).
In a statement, Tekla said shareholder Gerako Oy, who holds approximately 38% of the shares and votes in Tekla, had "given an irrevocable undertaking to accept the tender offer."
Headquartered in Espoo, Finland, with a U.S. office in Atlanta, Tekla has about 500 employees and operations in 15 countries. Its flagship product is the 3D BIM program Tekla Structures, a design program optimized for and used by structural engineers.
Tekla and Trimble sources both said they expect the acquisition to be completed by the end of the year.
