In early September, Brookfield Academy, Brookfield, WI, broke ground for a new high school on its campus.
Groth Design Group, Cedarburg, WI, designed the more-than-100,000-square-foot new school to be the visual center of the campus and to unify the variety of building styles already on the site while conforming to the city of Brookfield's strict design regulations.
The new facility will have an academic wing, a day-lit two-story library, science labs, flexible classroom configurations, gymnasium, and a cafeteria/commons that opens onto the landscaped patio at the main entrance. Other building wings house the art department and a performing arts studio.
The project should be completed in about 18 months.
Groth is already working on plans for a future phase that will incorporate an auditorium and gymnasium.
