Bufftree Building Turns Gosnold Laboratory Green

Bufftree Building Turns Gosnold Laboratory Green

By Staff | August 11, 2010

Bufftree Building Company recently completed a new construction and renovation project on the Gosnold Laboratory for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (WHOI). Bufftree has been the contractor of choice for many major projects at WHOI over the years. The latest collaboration between the world-class scientific institution and the world-class builder employed green design solutions by architects Oak Point Associates of Portsmouth, NH, to make the Gosnold Laboratory more in harmony with its natural environment and a healthier place to work. Located on the Quisset Campus of the WHOI, the facility houses the offices and labs of the USGS. Scientists at the USGS's Wood Hole Science Center explore and study the geology, chemistry and physics of the country's offshore waters. Work on the project was phased in accordance with a schedule that allowed the existing laboratory to remain in operation while construction was underway.
