We invite you to participate in Building Design & Construction's 19th annual Reconstruction Project of the Year Awards to honor exceptional renovation, preservation and adaptive-reuse projects completed after Jan. 1, 2001. BD&C is most interested in the innovative and technical aspects of your project's design, construction and development.
All commercial, industrial and institutional buildings are eligible. Any architectural, engineering, contracting or development firm may submit one entry. Please indicate the name of the firm submitting the entry and a contact name. All entries become property of BD&C and will not be returned. Feature articles on the winning projects will be published in our October 2002 issue.
Entries must include:

Name and location of the project.

Project start and completion dates.

Firm names, contacts and phone numbers
-
for the architect; contractor; developer; mechanical, electrical subcontractors and structural engineers; and other relevant consultants as well as product manufacturers.

Actual size of project (square feet and other relevant measurements).

The total construction cost and a cost breakdown by major categories (HVAC, electrical, roofing, concrete, steel, etc.). Please be as detailed as possible. Total value of construction must exceed $1 million. If new construction is a part of the project, include that percentage of project cost.

Black-and-white or color 8-by-10-in. prints showing the building before reconstruction.

Also, color prints of the completed project showing interior and exterior views of the building, as well as a building team photo, if possible. If the project is given an award, 4-by-5-in. original transparencies must be supplied as well as a building team photo, which should include no more than four people.

A detailed description of the work performed on the project and any pertinent information about the design, construction and development challenges. Include changes to all major systems, including structural, mechanical and electrical systems.

Information on the success of the project in terms of leasing rate, financial return, impact in the community, etc.

Any other documentation (e.g., newspaper clippings, project schedules) that would be useful in explaining the challenges involved in the project's scope.

Material may be submitted in any kind of folder, but three-ring binders are the most convenient for the judging committee.

Entry fee is $200, by check, payable to Building Design & Construction.
Entries must be received by July 15, 2002.
