The planned Cambria Hotel in Somerville, Mass., has found its lead architect. CambridgeSeven will work alongside The Noannet Group, the project’s developer, to design the upscale hotel.

Construction is set to begin on Aug. 1, 2019 at 515 Somerville Avenue. The hotel will provide 164 rooms across six floors and 98,000 sf. A a 150-seat restaurant with outdoor seating and greenspace will also be included. The greenspace will improve the overall streetscape as well as provide a little breathing room between neighboring residential buildings and the hotel.

3D-printed construction milestones take shape in Tennessee and Texas

Two notable 3D-printed projects mark milestones in the new construction technique of “printing” structures with specialized concrete. In Athens, Tennessee, Walmart hired Alquist 3D to build a 20-foot-high store expansion, one of the largest freestanding 3D-printed commercial concrete structures in the U.S. In Marfa, Texas, the world’s first 3D-printed hotel is under construction at an existing hotel and campground site.
