CBRE Group, Inc. announced today that two of its senior executives, Chris Bodnar and Lee Asher, have been named Healthcare Real Estate Executives of the Year by Healthcare Real Estate Insights (HREI).

Mr. Bodnar and Mr. Asher are co-leaders of the CBRE Healthcare Capital Markets Group (HCMG). Formed in 2006, HCMG was one of the first national real estate advisory groups to provide health systems, physician groups and investors with acquisition, disposition, debt and equity solutions, and healthcare real estate consulting services. As partners, Mr. Bodnar and Mr. Asher were responsible for the disposition of 6.6 million sq. ft. of medical assets, exceeding a total value of $1.5 billion over the last two years, and sales and financings with a total value of nearly $1 billion so far in 2013.

“This award reflects Chris and Lee’s tremendous commitment to providing the highest level of service to our clients, and reflects the growing importance of healthcare real estate as a global asset class and their role in helping advance this investment sector,” said Christopher Ludeman, Global President, CBRE Capital Markets.

“We are honored to be chosen for this prestigious award and we are proud to share the recognition with our entire HCMG team,” said Mr. Bodnar. “We continue to grow our network and capabilities to keep pace with the needs of our clients and adapt to the ever-evolving world of healthcare. We’d like to thank our clients for trusting us with their healthcare real estate strategy, and we look forward to continuing to provide them with world-class, service, insights and results.”

Based in Denver, Colorado, Mr. Bodnar joined CBRE in 2003 and formed HCMG in 2006. Prior to forming HCMG, he was a member of CBRE’s Private Capital Group, where he received recognition from his peers with the National Award of Excellence. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, and currently sits on the board of the Morgridge Academy at National Jewish Hospital in Denver.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Asher was a member of CBRE’s Atlanta Institutional Group focused on office investments and the former Managing Director of the Southeast and Mid–Atlantic regions for CBRE’s Financial Consulting Group (FCG) before joining HCMG. Prior to joining CBRE, he was co–founder and COO of iTendant, Inc., a provider of service request and maintenance software to commercial building owners and operators. He received an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a B.S. from Tulane University.

The HREI Insights Awards are the only industry awards dedicated to the healthcare real estate sector. Mr. Bodnar and Mr. Asher were chosen for their leadership; demonstrated excellence in the use of strategy, innovation and creativity; and significant contributions to professional healthcare real estate organizations. The award was presented at the RealShare Healthcare Real Estate Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 11, 2013, and awards highlights will be featured in the January 2014 edition of HREI and the 2014 HREI Resource Guide.
