Crafton Tull Sparks Invests In Employees

August 11, 2010

Christmas came early in Rogers, AR, this year. Crafton Tull Sparks offered a fuel-efficient car as an employee incentive for passing the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) exam. Employees who passed the LEED accreditation test administered by the U.S. Green Building Council were eligible for winning a 2008 Smart Car, compliments of Crafton Tull Sparks. The company kicked off its “Take the LEED: Get Smart with Crafton Tull Sparks” program on Earth Day. Scott Hood, P.E., a civil engineer in Rogers, won the vehicle.

“It is great to work for a company that not only encourages their employees to grow professionally, but in addition finds creative ways to reward them,” said Scott Hood, Smart Car winner. “Having the company pay the exam fee and giving a bonus for passing was incentive enough, but winning the Smart Car is an exciting reward.”

Thirty-two staff members of Crafton Tull Sparks received LEED accreditation during the campaign, bringing the company's total to 43 employees who are knowledgeable in sustainable design practices. According to the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) website, Crafton Tull Sparks has more LEED accredited employees than any other architecture/engineering firm in Arkansas or Oklahoma.

Arkansas employees that recently passed include Chad Beardslee, E.I.; Kyle Blakely, ASLA; Wes Burgess, AIA; Ryan Castor, E.I.; Jonathan Ely, E.I.; Scott Hood, P.E.; Glenn Houck; Ben Kuddes, E.I.; Michael Lettner, E.I.; Rob Livers, P.E.; Scott McReynolds, E.I.; and James Parks, E.I. Oklahoma employees that recently passed include Jason Emmett, E.I.; Ashley Hibbets, IIDA; Aaron Landrum, E.I.; Lindsay McCabe, P.E.; Elli Johannsson, P.E.; David King, P.E.; Mistie Lisle; Chuck Mitchell, P.E.; Crystal Power, Associate ASLA; Jill Selman, ASID, IIDA; Dana Templeton; and John Walsh. Chris Winkler from the Wichita office recently passed.

Crafton Tull Sparks just celebrated 45 years of business. Founded in November 1963 by Lem Tull and Bob Crafton, it merged with Gary Sparks' firm SPARKS in 2006. Crafton Tull Sparks has 335 employees with offices in Conway, Little Rock, Rogers and Russellville, AR; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK; and Wichita, KS. It provides architectural, engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and surveying services nationwide.
