Design-build makes gains along with more authorizing legislation

Design-build project delivery represented 40% of the nonresidential U.S. construction market in 2009.

By BD+C Staff | December 4, 2013

In 2009, more legislation authorizing design-build project delivery passed than in any year in Design-Build Institute of America’s history.

A study commissioned by DBIA revealed that design-build project delivery represented 40% of the nonresidential U.S. construction market in 2009, growing over 10% since 2005. In the same time period, use of the traditional design-bid-build delivery method fell 14%.
