Eliminating Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac part of Obama’s housing proposal

By BD+C Staff | August 19, 2013

Obama is also taking executive action to widen the pool of borrowers eligible to receive loans from federally backed programs. Obama wants the federal government’s exposure to the housing market to be more limited. He called for an end to the federally owned mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and said that any future system must place the vast majority of financial risk on private-sector lenders.
