The first newly constructed Signia by Hilton Hotel, a new upscale brand from Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc., is set to be built in Atlanta, Ga.
The $308 million project will be located on the northwest corner of the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus and will overlook Mercedes-Benz stadium. It will connect to the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) by a walkway.
The 1,225,000-sf, 40-story hotel will feature 975 technology-rich guest rooms. Amenities will include 75,000 sf of meeting and event space, parking facilities, a spa, fitness facilities with a 6,670-sf pool deck, an outdoor event lawn and deck, a market, two chef-driven restaurants, and three destination bars. A lobby will welcome guests with locally inspired architecture, landscaping, and a contemporary design aesthetic.
Skanska and SG Contracting will provide reconstruction and construction management services for the Gensler-designed project. The hotel, which will serve as the headquarters hotel for the GWCC, is slated to open in early 2024.

Turner Building Cost Index dips nearly 4% in second quarter 2009
Turner Construction Company announced that the second quarter 2009 Turner Building Cost Index, which measures nonresidential building construction costs in the U.S., has decreased 3.35% from the first quarter 2009 and is 8.92% lower than its peak in the second quarter of 2008. The Turner Building Cost Index number for second quarter 2009 is 837.
