The Augmented Reality for Enterprise Alliance (AREA) and the Digital Twin Consortium have established a strategic relationship to advance the use of augmented reality and digital twin technologies.
The alliance will seek benefits through collaboration, including the exploration of use cases to improve reliability, advance compliance and risk management, reduce maintenance costs, increase productivity, and create more effective training.
The collaboration will:
· Define industry requirements
· Increase the degree to which enabling technology components interoperate
· Align work underway to accelerate adoption of digital twins and augmented reality in many vertical domains and use cases
· Develop proof of value projects and programs, and joint marketing efforts
“Augmented reality and digital twins are an ideal combination as together, they allow users to visualize the invisible,” said Dan Isaacs, CTO, Digital Twin Consortium. “This includes enhancing situational awareness and event intelligence for training in assembly, installation, maintenance, operation, compliance assurance, and safety. For infrastructure projects, this combination enables visibility inside the walls of a building or structure, or the power, connectivity, or water piping and conduits under streets and roadways, and much more.”

NFPA Fire & Life Safety Conference in December
Presentations on recent Fire Protection Research Foundation projects, how September 11th and the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire affected high rise design, and a panel discussion on emerging code issues will be featured at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)’s Fire & Life Safety Conference on December 12-14 in Orlando, FL.The meeting will include more than 60 educational sessions in which participants can earn continuing education units (CEUs). Project Aims to Automate Code Compliance Assessment
FIATECH, a consortium of owners from the industrial, power, and retail markets that build large structures, launched a project this year to validate the use of automation technology for code compliance assessment, and to accelerate the regulatory approval process using building models. Long-term objectives include the development of an extensive, open-source rule set library that is approved by industry and regulatory bodies for use by technology developers and code officials.

EPA Says Additional Lead Paint Cleaning Rules Not Necessary
