Set to open in 2023, the 35,000-seat, $530 million new ballpark in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido, for Japan’s Nippon-Ham Fighters Baseball Club is designed to set a new bar for baseball venues in the country. The design, by HKS Inc., with Obayashi as the GC, features a massive gabled retractable roof evocative of old-style homes in the area, and an expansive glass wall encasing the outfield.
