The opening of the Owatonna (Minn.) Hospital completes the second phase of work at the 20-acre Owatonna Healthcare Campus. Designed by HGA Architects and Engineers, the two-story hospital, owned by Allina Hospitals and Clinics, connects to a newly expanded clinic owned by Mayo Health System to create a single facility for inpatient and outpatient care. The complex, which has private patient rooms, daylit family waiting areas, and patios with garden views, includes a pharmacy, sleep lab, emergency room, operating rooms, and birthing center. In addition to the clinical spaces, the hospital features a Wellness Walk (the hospital’s main corridor, which also aids wayfinding and serves as a source of natural light), a café, a coffee shop, and classrooms. Next project in the master plan: a nursing home.
