ALPHARETTA, GA, Jan. 19, 2009 – Laura J. Noland has been named Principal Environment Scientist/Permitting & Regulatory Specialist at MACTEC.  Allen Kibler, President of MACTEC Engineering and Consulting, Inc., (www.mactec.com), made the announcement.  Noland is based in the firm’s Anchorage office.

 

According to MACTEC Alaska Office Manager Sean P. Thomas, Noland brings to MACTEC more than 20 years of public and private sector experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, environmental management systems, contaminated site assessment and remediation.

 

“Laura has supervised projects encompassing a wide range of environmental regulatory issues,” said Thomas.  “Some of these include waste management, water use and permitting, air quality, natural resource issues, as well as all facets of contaminated sites issues. Laura has lived, worked and traveled throughout Alaska for over 30 years”

 

Noland spent 10 years as project manager for the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), Contaminated Sites Program and Solid Waste Program.  She has experience with business development, marketing, and environmental contracting. In addition, Noland has authored numerous training and environmental publications.

 

Key projects Noland has supervised in Alaska have included:

 

Ø  Village of Gulkana Strategic Project Implementation Plan, Gulkana Village Council – Helped obtain $1.2 million from the federal government to address safety, subsistence and contaminated soil and water concerns in the village.

 

Ø  Project Manager for Teledyne Solutions, Fort Greely Environmental Management System (EMS), Fort Greely, Alaska - Project Manager for the development and implementation of the Fort Greely EMS Program.  The EMS Program includes the adjacent Missile Defense Facility. 

 

Ø  Project Manager for Anchorage International Airport Contaminated Site Corrective Action, DOT&PF -  Developed a unique facility-wide contaminated site assessment program using a risk zone approach, based on the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) process.

 

Noland received an Associate Degree in environmental science from Anchorage Community College, and a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resource management from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.  She was included in “Who’s Who in Alaska Business,” Alaska Business Monthly, February 2007.
