Hawaii-based Metcalf Construction Co. has won a key reversal from a federal appeals court in a case involving failures by the federal government to properly administer a contract for work that could have broad implications for government contractors.

Metcalf was awarded a $50 million government contract more than a decade ago to design and build residences on a Marine Corps Base. Metcalf spent more than $76 million on the project and sued to recoup costs.
