The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) has formed a new chapter, the Arizona Chapter of AFSA. The chapter held its first official meeting on June 28, 2001 in Phoenix, Ariz. Guest speakers included AFSA Codes Manager Phill Brown.
By joining with AFSA, the chapter will now be able to draw from various industry banks of knowledge and logistical support, as well as enhance the overall function of the group's mission.
Officers for 2001 are: Mike Bair with Mach 1 Fire Protection, Inc. in Glendale, Ariz., as chairman; Rick Wilson with Jet Pipe Industries in Phoenix, Ariz., as co-chairman; John French with Reaction Supply, Inc. in Phoenix, Ariz., as treasurer; and Becky Grantham with Genesis Fire Protection in Chandler, Ariz., as executive director.Says AFSA Membership Director Lloyd Ivy: "This chapter will give us a solid foundation to build support for the burn trauma charities, softball tournament and important industry issues such as the Mesa Fire Sprinkler Initiative. The 2000 convention in Phoenix was the biggest in AFSA history and we will strive for the same success with this chapter."
Established in 1981, the American Fire Sprinkler Association Inc. is a non-profit, international association representing the open shop fire sprinkler contractor. AFSA is dedicated to the educational and professional advancement of the automatic fire sprinkler industry.
