OSHA proposes requirement for large firms to disclose workplace injuries

OSHA proposes requirement for large firms to disclose workplace injuries

Proposal would require companies with more than 250 employees to disclose workplace injury and illness reports online.

By BD+C Staff | November 14, 2013

A proposal from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration would require companies with more than 250 employees to disclose workplace injury and illness reports online.

The plan mandates that firms make the illness and injury records publicly accessible in order to strengthen enforcement of workplace safety laws. Business groups oppose the plan because it would distort public perception of companies, said Marc Freedman, executive director of labor-law policy for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
