Architect I. M. Pei, FAIA, has been named the second recipient of the Henry C. Turner Prize for Innovation in Construction Technology. Sponsored jointly by the National Building Museum, Washington, D.C., and Turner Construction Co., Dallas, the prize recognizes notable advances and high achievement in construction methods and processes.
During his impressive 55-year career, Pei designed several innovative buildings, including the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art and the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong.
Pei will received the award during an April 15 reception at the National Building Museum. Architect David Childs, FAIA, engineer Leslie E. Robertson, and architectural author Carter Wiseman will engage Pei in a conversation about his role in stimulating innovations in construction technology.
