SmithGroupJJR hired Robert Wilson, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP, as a senior project manager in its San Francisco office.

Wilson makes the move to SmithGroupJJR from VOA Associates, Inc., where he served as a senior vice president and technical director in its Chicago office.

Wilson’s career has been marked by involvement in a range of interior architecture projects for clients across the corporate, retail, hospitality and healthcare markets. Notable projects include build-out of MillerCoors 108,000-sf corporate offices in Chicago, Ill.; initial space planning for the Abu Dhabi Financial Center, a two million-square foot mixed development on Sowwah Island in the United Arab Emirates; and leading construction management activities for expansion of Deloitte’s 420,000-sf offices in Chicago, Ill.

In his new role, Wilson will serve in a leadership role for key office and workplace projects. He will also work to identify marketing opportunities for the firm in the corporate and public sectors. +

University of Florida aiming for nation’s first LEED Platinum parking garage

If all goes as planned, the University of Florida’s new $20 million Southwest Parking Garage Complex in Gainesville will soon become the first parking facility in the country to earn LEED Platinum status. Designed by the Boca Raton office of PGAL to meet criteria for the highest LEED certification category, the garage complex includes a six-level, 313,000-sf parking garage (927 spaces) and an attached, 10,000-sf, two-story transportation and parking services office building.
