Rodgers Builders, Inc. has successfully completed two major building projects within New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Strategic Master Facility Plan Implementation Program – the Surgery Pavilion and the Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The Rodgers project team broke ground on January 19, 2006, and completed the 186,500-square-foot Surgery Pavilion in June 2008. This modern facility has 30 operating rooms, 76 prep/recovery rooms and 24 post-anesthesia rooms. The high-tech operating rooms have flat-screen computer monitors and state-of-the-art equipment mounted on moveable arms suspended from the ceiling, which helps to maximize room space.
The four-story, 195,000-square-foot women’s and children’s Hospital was completed in early September 2008. Betty H. Cameron Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a 149-bed hospital with spacious rooms. At the Women’s Center, expectant mothers, including those experiencing high-risk pregnancies, receive care throughout every stage of their pregnancy from prenatal to delivery. The Children’s Center specializes in pediatric and neonatal care, and has intensive care units for each group of patients. There are also pediatric inpatient and neonatal transitional care beds.
As part of the hospital’s Master Facility Plan, Rodgers Builders, Inc. will also be responsible for the Emergency Department Renovation, Heart Center, Radiology Expansion, Central Energy Plant Expansion, and Bed Tower Renovation. The entire $220-million project will take five years to complete. This construction project is the largest in the history of New Hanover County Building Standards Department’s records and one of the largest health care projects underway in the Carolinas.
