More than 2,500 people from over 50 countries attended Trimble Dimensions 2007, held recently in Las Vegas, Nev. The theme of the conference was "Transform Your Business with the Connected Site," and it provided insight into how surveying, engineering, construction, mapping, and geospatial professionals can apply process integration, positioning and communication technologies to transform business operations.
"We were extremely pleased with the strong interest demonstrated in Trimble Dimensions," says Bryn Fosburgh, Trimble vice president. "It was truly a unique conference focused on how advanced technology solutions are transforming the way engineering and construction work is done."
Building a connected site allows businesses to incorporate seamless workflows to reduce rework and maximize productivity. With more than 300 sessions across multiple specialty tracks, the conference focused on increasing productivity in the field and in the office. The conference featured a wide range of programs, including presentations on the underlying technologies, sessions on applying those technologies to real world problems as well as introductory and advanced product training. In addition, some sessions were presented to highlight techniques to help organizations grow their maximum return on investment.
Many of the application sessions utilized Trimble users to explain the practical use of technology in surveying, civil engineering, highway and heavy construction, site preparation, and construction vehicle fleet management, as well as other emerging applications.
The conference included a Partners Pavilion that showcased the complete suite of Trimble construction, survey, engineering, aerial and mobile mapping, GIS and infrastructure solutions, including products from Applanix, INPHO, Meridian Systems, Pacific Crest, Quantm, Tripod Data Systems, and XYZ Solutions. Highlighted solutions and technologies included GPS; total stations; field computing and data collection; 3-D scanning; pre-design construction planning; 3-D visualization; construction project management; aerial mapping; wireless communications; data transfer; and field and office software applications. Other technology providers who are Trimble partners participated to extend the conference's range of products and applications.
