Accelerate Live! talk: Gaming tech in construction, Lucas Richmond, Gilbane

June 13, 2017

Based out of Gilbane’s Milwaukee office, Lucas Richmond has spent the better part of the past decade building the company’s fledgling media studio into a multimedia powerhouse—and a critical piece of the firm’s client-service offerings.

High-powered graphics, 3D gaming environments, virtual and augmented reality, video, photography—Richmond’s team utilizes all of these tools to help clients and building teams realize their architectural vision.

A key to his success is his unconventional hiring practices, which includes looking outside the AEC industry when recruiting his rockstar team. Richmond walks us through his hiring strategy during this 15-minute talk, from BD+C’s Accelerate Live! conference (May 11, 2017, Chicago).

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Lucas Richmond is the Senior Media Studio Manager for Gilbane Building Company. Richmond excels in this role because he is a problem solver and someone that can help people realize their architectural vision. He can take a simple, pencil sketch from a napkin and bring to life a vision in a 3D environment, where you can add materials, lighting, and finishes, and then view in a high-frame-rate virtual reality environment. Richmond is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where he studied graphic and multimedia design. His 10 years in the industry of 3D multimedia, combined with solid communication skills, and an architectural background, result in highly detailed animations and visuals for Gilbane's clients.
