There’s no doubt about it: architectural design is going green. Now Viracon, the country’s leading single-source architectural glass fabricator, is making it easier for architects to meet sustainability goals with glass. In a newly enhanced "Green Building Design" area on its website, Viracon offers new tools, including a climate zone map and chart, to help architects, designers and specifiers select the right glass for their green building goals.
"The new Viracon Green Building Design site features a new climate zone mapand climate zone chart. Using the map, visitors can select their climate zone and then use the chart to learn which of Viracon’s coating and substrate combinations can assist in meeting green building goals for their region.
The newly enhanced site section also includes detailed information about LEED requirements and how glass selection can help in four of the six major LEED categories.
Viracon’s sustainable building website tools come on the heels of the company giving its own business practices a greener spin. The company recently redesigned its samples boxes to replace foam inserts with a recyclable material. With more than 15,000 samples boxes sent out every year, Viracon made this move to reduce the amount of waste it and its customers send to landfills every year.
