Ware Malcomb names Sorensen Engineering Regional Manager

New hire will oversee firm's civil engineering practice in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Irvine.

IRVINE, Calif. (June 13, 2014) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced that Sonia Sorensen has joined the firm as Engineering Regional Manager. In this position, Sorensen oversees client relationships, staff management, and the overall growth of Ware Malcomb's Civil Engineering practice across its offices in Los Angeles, San Diego and the Irvine, Calif. corporate headquarters. 
 
Sorensen brings nearly 20 years of experience to her new role at Ware Malcomb, including all facets of civil engineering and land surveying, hydraulic and design engineering, and project management. Most recently Sorensen ran her own engineering and environmental consulting business with clients including Southern California Edison, Glendale Water & Power, and Glendale Public Works. She worked for Southern California Edison for over a decade, first as a Program Manager/Engineer where she managed and designed numerous civil and environmental engineering projects, and later as a consultant serving as Project Manager. Sorensen began her career as a Hydraulic Engineer for the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where she conducted hydrology and hydraulic studies for the world’s largest public engineering, design and construction management agency.

Sorensen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. A Registered Professional Engineer, she is also Southern California Edison Project Management Certified, Qualified Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) Developer (QSD) licensed, and 40-Hr Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certified.
