The Metal Construction Association (MCA) published “Definitions: Who Does What in the Supply and Installation of MCM,” a white paper that clarifies steps and roles for the use of metal composite material (MCM).

The document examines the responsibilities of manufacturers, distributors, and fabricators in addressing issues that arise during the design and construction process. For example, visual problems with installation should be referred back to the MCM manufacturer.

Fabricators may be contacted about panel color consistency. Designers and code enforcers may not be sure how to verify that the materials and installation system comply with local code requirements.

The white paper will help designers understand those issues and the roles of MCM manufacturers, distributors, fabricators of MCM panel systems, installers, and agencies who approve the listing and labeling of MCM according to code. “Having this knowledge is essential to upholding industry standards for this important product,” according to an MCA news release.
