The Yale-NUS College in Singapore has been completed. It is the 314-year-old university's first college established outside of New Haven, Conn.
Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects designed the liberal arts school, which will enroll up to 1,000 students. The campus contains academic and administrative buildings—including a library, performance complex, science labs, and sports center—and three residential colleges. The dorm buildings are towers that have rooms for students and faculty, along with skygardens, dining halls, classrooms, and study rooms.
The campus has outdoor courtyards with screened colonnades, shaded walkways, gates with Southeast Asian-inspired metalwork patterns, and a garden with heritage trees and an eco-pond that collects rainwater.
The 667,000-sf campus earned the highest rating under the Building and Construction Authority’s Green Mark, which is Singapore’s criteria for sustainable design.
