ZGF Architects has established a Vancouver, BC, presence in partnership with Cotter Architects Inc., expanding ZGF's work in Canada. The new venture will be named ZGF Cotter Architects Inc. and follows a highly successful collaboration between ZGF and Cotter Architects on a number of projects, most notably the 52-story 3 Civic Plaza mixed-use residential, hotel, office and retail project in the ambitious new Surrey civic district. According to ZGF, Patrick Cotter’s proven local leadership and expertise in mixed-use developments, planning and assisted living design will add to ZGF’s broader portfolio and future pursuits.

Founded in 1995 by Patrick Cotter, Cotter Architects Inc. made its mark with the master planning and urban design of large-scale, communities, most notably in the emerging city center of Surrey and through the successful planning and approval of the 500-acre Southlands community in Delta. In addition to its expertise with mixed-use, transit-oriented development, the firm has earned recognition for its design of Canada’s first 6-story residential wood-framed development, and is a leader in the design of senior living and residential care environments.
